Enhancing Non-Physical Protection of Armored Brigades by Relying on Psychological Readiness

Abstract
Purpose:This study aims to explore methods for enhancing the intangible factors of combat power in the armored brigades of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army Ground Forces, with an emphasis on psychological readiness.Methodology:The research employs a descriptive method and is of an applied nature with a mixed-methods approach. Data were gathered through document analysis and expert interviews, which informed the development of a questionnaire. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed through face/content validation, and its reliability was verified with a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.91. The sample included commanders from armored brigades and divisions, faculty from the Command and Staff University, and academic experts in psychology familiar with the intangible elements of combat power, psychology, and the mission of the Ground Forces and armored brigades.Findings:Based on literature review and expert interviews, three dimensions and eight components were identified for enhancing the intangible aspects of combat power in armored brigades with a focus on psychological preparedness. These components were analyzed using SPSS and relevant statistical methods.Conclusion:On average, 84.2% of the sample population believed that focusing on personnel and their challenges, age considerations, physical activity, sufficient sleep, stress and pressure management, strengthening social relationships, healthy nutrition, helping personnel understand the impact of their duties on organizational goals, regular mental exercises, deep breathing techniques, daily journaling of thoughts and feelings, and administering theoretical and practical evaluations accompanied by appropriate incentives can significantly contribute to enhancing the intangible elements of combat power in the Army’s armored brigades.
